The map is a floor plan of the “Tiziano Superior” housing unit, a new accommodation unit at Florenz Open Air Resort, complete with partition walls, furniture, and wardrobes. The map is meant to be used together with the corresponding Directory, which contains detailed descriptions of furnishings and spaces, as well as accurate directions.

Conventional signs

  • The thick lines are the perimeter and internal walls.
  • The solid (black) shapes represent the table, electrical box, fire extinguisher, cooktop, and shower handset.
  • The continuous thin lines outline walls, windows, sanitary ware, pouf, bed, and chairs.
  • The dotted surface marks wardrobes and pantries.
  • The double thick line marks the sliding entrance glass door.
  • The thin “T”-shaped lines against the wall are hooks and hangers.
  • The short lines perpendicular to the walls are switches.
  • The dots against the walls are electrical outlets.

Exploring the accommodation

Place the map horizontally with the cut corner at the top right. In the top left, you’ll find the inscription “Unità abitativa” (“Housing unit” in Italian) in large-print and Braille. If you move your hands downward across the sheet, you’ll find a variety of surfaces and lines enclosed in a roughly rectangular perimeter, which is the shape of the accommodation.

Move your hands to the bottom of the sheet and, along the lower margin, follow the outer wall of the accommodation. In the middle, you’ll find a double thick line: this is the sliding glass entrance door.

Follow it to the right, and you’ll immediately encounter two short lines perpendicular to the wall on the upper side and a dot on the lower side: the first two are switches, near which, as described in the Directory, you’ll find the air conditioner remote control; the third is a German-style socket on the terrace. Just to the right, you’ll find a small solid rectangle marking the electrical control panel.

Continue right along the inside, and in the corner, you’ll find a small dot for another socket and a solid circle: this is a small fire extinguisher. Just above this, you’ll find a dotted rectangle in the shape of the low cabinet under the TV.

Now follow the wall upwards, entering the sleeping area. To the right, you’ll soon find a thin line parallel to the wall marking a window. From here, move your hands slightly towards the center of the sheet and find two rectangles with rounded edges drawn in thin lines: the lower one is a pouf that can be turned into a single bed, and the upper one is a double bed.

Above the double bed, against the upper wall, you’ll find a horizontal dotted surface: this is the cabinet surrounding the bed’s headboard, with further details in the Directory. To the right and left, within two smooth surfaces, you’ll find the bedside tables with switches and sockets (two and one per side, respectively). To the left of the cabinet, against the bathroom’s dividing wall, you’ll find two “T”-shaped symbols marking the coat hooks.

Just below, we’ll find a break in the line, which is the entrance to the bathroom. Let’s move to the left and enter. Just below, inside the wall, you’ll find a switch and an outlet. If you continue to the left, you’ll find lines depicting the bathroom fixtures: the sink at the bottom, the toilet at the top right, and the bidet to the left, separated by a towel hook. Above them, parallel to the perimeter wall, there is a thin line representing a window.

Taking up the left side of the bathroom, in the corner, is the shower tray, with the showerhead clearly marked. Between shower and sink, on the lower wall, you’ll find two more towel hooks.

Now, let’s return to the lower side of the map, to the double thick line of the patio door. From here, move left and, in the corner, you’ll find a square dotted surface: this is the first kitchen module, with a fridge and a safe. If you move upwards from here, you’ll find another dotted surface, which is the cupboard, interrupted by a smooth space with two dotted outlets, and a solid surface that is the cooktop, where the two circles of the induction hob and rectangular sink are clearly identifiable. Please turn to the directory for a detailed description of the modules and the countertop.

From here, move your hands to the right, towards the sleeping area: you’ll encounter a solid surface, the table, surrounded by four thin curved lines portraying the chairs. Move slightly upwards and, against the exterior wall of the bathroom, you’ll find one last dotted rectangle: this is a two-door wardrobe with a mirror.
